RIVER EXCURSION I |

Dayak
people from the overwhelming majority
of the population of the hinterland
live in long houses called Lamin.
It is customary for one whole extended
family or even one clan to settle
one long house. Each family is given
a separate compartment with the
chief of the clan occupying the
central chamber. The Dayak also
known for their arts, beautiful
clothes making and ornaments for
their long houses.
You will see and found the culture
of Dayak tribe who has a lot of
sub ethnics with their own unique
lives and varieties flora and fauna
live including the famous fresh
water dolphin, proboscis monkey,
black orchid, etc.

ITINERARY
Day
01 : ARRIVAL IN BALIKPAPAN
Meet at airport and transfer to Loa
Janan for two hours drive approximately,
then start to cruise the mighty Mahakam
river. (d)
Day 02 : MUARA MUNTAI-TANJUNG
ISUY-MANCONG
Arrive at Muara Muntai, then you will
take sightseeing trip through villages
to see daily activity of Dayak people.
By motorized boat, cruising Jempang
lake to Tanjung isuy to visit longhouse
with traditional dance performance
of Dayak Benuaq. Proceed to Mancong
by car or motorcycle to visit grand
long house called Lamin Mancong. Next,
return to boat to cruise upward through
Ohong river where a lot of proboscis
monkeys hang on trees at riverside.

Day 03 : MELAK-KERSIK LUWEY-MAHAKAM
RIVER
Upon arrive at Melak, transfer to
Kersik Luwey park to see the rare
black orchid and other Kalimantan
flora on the zone. Next, proceed to
Eheng for visiting the old and original
long house with their unique ornament
and shape. (b,l,d)
Day 04 : LEKAK IDAU-TENGGARONG-BALIKPAPAN
Arrived at Lekak Cidau to explore
the long earing women with tattoo
on their skin, then proceed to Tenggarong
to visit Mulawarman Museum for watching
the inheritance of Kutai Kartanegara
kingdom, the oldest Hindu Kingdom
in Indonesia. Next, cruise downward
to Loa Janan, then continue trip to
Balikpapan for having accommodation
at Hotel. (b,l,d)
Day 05 : DEPARTURE
Transfer to airport for next destination
or extend to other trips. (b)
